Our installations can include:
Front-only, front-and-rear or other compatible camera systems

Low-voltage battery protection where provided by the chosen kit
Rear-camera cable routing through the vehicle safely
Camera positioning without obstructing the driver’s view
App pairing, GPS and camera-settings setup where supported
Recording, parking-mode and rear-camera testing
A clear handover so you know how to protect and download your footage

Need a different system?
If you need an interior camera, three-channel recording, fleet functionality or a specific manufacturer, contact us before ordering. We can check compatibility and quote for the right equipment rather than fitting a system that is unsuitable for the vehicle.
What is included with professional installation?
Vehicle and equipment check
We confirm the camera, rear-camera connection, power kit and vehicle are compatible before installation. Any model-specific requirements are explained before work begins.
Setup and testing
We test normal recording, parking-mode operation where applicable, rear-camera footage, GPS, app connection and basic settings before handing the vehicle back.
Safe camera positioning
The camera is positioned to provide a clear view while avoiding unnecessary obstruction of the driver’s view, vehicle sensors and important windscreen areas.
Customer handover
We explain how to view, download and protect recordings, how parking mode works and what to do if you ever need footage for an insurance claim.
Concealed cable routing
Where the vehicle allows, cables are routed behind trim and secured neatly so the finished installation looks tidy and the 12V socket remains available.
Correct power connection
Where a compatible hardwire kit is supplied, it is connected to suitable constant-power, ACC/ignition and earth points. The camera can then identify driving and parked conditions and use the supported parking mode.
Hardwire installation, parking mode and 4G explained
Â
What does a hardwire kit do?
A hardwire kit provides a tidy permanent power connection and normally uses three connections: constant live, ignition/ACC and ground. This allows a compatible camera to record while driving and change to its supported parking mode when the ignition is switched off.
Suitable kits may also include low-voltage protection to reduce the risk of excessive battery discharge. Parking performance still depends on the vehicle battery, how often the vehicle is driven, the selected recording mode and the condition of the vehicle’s electrical system.
Â
Does 4G come with every hardwire kit?
No. A standard hardwire kit provides power and parking-mode support. Remote 4G features require a compatible camera, a compatible 4G hardwire module and suitable mobile-network service. SIM cards, data plans and any subscription charges are the customer’s responsibility unless specifically included in the quotation.
Â
Can every incident be recorded?
No dash camera can guarantee that every collision, number plate or event will be captured. Camera view, weather, lighting, impact direction, storage, battery condition, network coverage and the selected settings can all affect the recording.
Mobile or studio dash cam fitting
Â
We can often complete suitable dash-camera installations at your home or workplace where there is safe, legal access and enough room to work around the vehicle.
Studio appointments are available where a more controlled environment is preferable, or where the vehicle requires more involved trim removal, rear-camera routing or additional inspection.
For mobile fitting, please provide:
Safe and legal access to the vehicle
Enough space to open doors and work around the vehicle
Permission to work at the location where required
Any access instructions, parking restrictions or height limitations
Our mobile service area includes Eastbourne, North Harbour, Sovereign Harbour, Pevensey, Pevensey Bay, Westham, Hailsham, Polegate, Willingdon, Stone Cross, Seaford, Newhaven, Alfriston, East Dean and nearby East Sussex areas. Send your postcode and we will confirm availability and any applicable travel charge.
Already bought a dash camera?
If you have already purchased a dash camera, we may be able to install it for you. Before booking, send the camera model, vehicle make and model, registration, location of the fuse box and any available fitting instructions.
We will confirm whether the camera, rear camera, hardwire kit and vehicle are compatible. Customer-supplied equipment remains covered by its own manufacturer warranty; our responsibility is limited to the installation workmanship agreed with you.
Dash camera installation FAQs
How much does dash cam installation cost in Eastbourne?
Our complete supply-and-install packages currently start at £219 for a 70mai M310 front camera, £479 for a 70mai M800 4K front-and-rear system and £599 for a premium Thinkware U3000 front camera. The Thinkware U3000 front-and-rear package is £749. Larger vehicles and complex installations may require an additional charge, confirmed before booking.
Do you supply and fit dash cameras in Eastbourne?
Yes. DrivenByDetail supplies and professionally fits selected 70mai and Thinkware dash cameras in Eastbourne and surrounding East Sussex. We offer front-only and front-and-rear systems, with mobile or studio appointments subject to suitability.
Can you install a front-and-rear dash camera?
Yes. We install front-and-rear systems such as the 70mai M800 and Thinkware U3000. The rear cable is routed discreetly through the vehicle wherever the trim and vehicle design allow.
Which dash camera is best for my vehicle?
The 70mai M310 is the entry option for straightforward front recording. The 70mai M800 is a strong all-round front-and-rear choice with 4K front footage and built-in storage. The Thinkware U3000 is the premium option for advanced parking surveillance, radar-assisted detection and high-quality low-light recording. We will recommend the most suitable system for your vehicle and budget.
Do you offer 4G dash camera installation?
4G remote monitoring is available only with a compatible camera and compatible 4G hardwire module. 4G features may include remote access, alerts, location tools or live viewing, depending on the model, region, network and service arrangement. Any SIM, data plan or subscription is normally paid for by the customer.
What is parking mode?
Parking mode allows a compatible dash camera to monitor the vehicle after the ignition is switched off. Depending on the model, it may record an impact, movement or time-lapse footage. It requires the correct power connection and does not guarantee continuous recording or protection against every event.
Will hardwiring drain my car battery?
The correct hardwire kit should include battery-protection features or a low-voltage cut-off where supported. However, no system can remove every battery risk. Battery age, condition, vehicle energy management, temperature, how often the vehicle is driven and parking settings all affect available recording time.
Are dash cameras legal to use in the UK?
Dash cameras are generally permitted when fitted safely and used responsibly, but the vehicle owner remains responsible for complying with applicable road-safety, privacy and data-protection requirements. The camera must not obstruct the driver’s view, and passengers should be informed where appropriate.
What happens if my vehicle has an existing camera, tracker or aftermarket wiring?
Tell us before booking. Existing accessories, alarms, trackers, non-standard wiring and previous modifications can affect the best installation route. We will inspect the vehicle and explain any limitations before proceeding.
Do I need a separate memory card?
The 70mai M310 requires a suitable MicroSD card, which can be supplied as part of the complete package. The M800 uses built-in eMMC storage. The Thinkware U3000 package includes a 64GB card. We will confirm the storage supplied with your chosen package before booking.
Can you hide the dash-camera wires?
Yes. We route the wiring discreetly behind trim wherever practical, keeping the dashboard and 12V socket clear. Cable routing can vary according to the vehicle, airbags, trim design and rear-camera route.
Can you fit a dash cam to a van or work vehicle?
Yes. We can assess cars, vans and light commercial vehicles. Rear-camera cable length, bulkheads, doors, privacy glass and the best camera position can affect the installation, so send the vehicle details before booking.
Can you fit a dash camera to a hybrid or electric vehicle?
In many cases, yes. The installation must use a suitable low-voltage circuit and avoid high-voltage components and vehicle safety systems. We confirm the vehicle and fitting method before accepting the booking.
Can you install a dash camera at my home or workplace?
Often, yes. We need safe, legal access, enough working space and permission to work at the location. If the installation is particularly involved or the site is unsuitable, we may recommend a studio appointment.
How long does a dash cam installation take?
Front-only installations commonly take around one to two hours. Front-and-rear systems usually take around two to three hours, depending on the vehicle, rear-camera route and power connection. We will give you a realistic time estimate when confirming the booking.
Can you set up the dash-cam app for me?
Yes. Where the camera supports an app, we can pair it with your phone, check the connection and explain how to view and download recordings. You should have your phone available with the relevant app installed or ready to download.
Is the camera covered by a warranty?
The dash camera and accessories are covered by the relevant manufacturer warranty, subject to that manufacturer’s terms. Installation workmanship is covered under DrivenByDetail’s booking terms. Warranty decisions relating to the equipment may require inspection and manufacturer involvement.
Can the camera guarantee that it will capture a number plate?
No. Recording quality can be affected by speed, distance, lighting, weather, glare, dirty glass, camera position and the direction of an incident. A dash camera is an evidence aid, not a guarantee that every detail will be readable.

Whether you want a simple front camera, a discreet front-and-rear system or premium parking protection, DrivenByDetail can help you choose the right equipment and install it properly.
Send us your vehicle details and we will confirm the most suitable option, total price and next available appointment.
