About DrivenByDetail and Our Service Area
Where are you based?
DrivenByDetail is based in North Harbour, Eastbourne, East Sussex. We operate from a dedicated, climate-controlled detailing studio and also provide selected mobile detailing services at customers’ homes and workplaces.
Do you offer mobile car detailing in Eastbourne?
Yes. Our mobile detailing service covers Eastbourne and surrounding areas using a fully equipped van with onboard water, power and professional detailing equipment. Mobile services include Maintenance Details, Refresh Details, Revival Details and interior detailing, subject to safe access and suitable working conditions.
Which services are mobile and which are studio-based?
Maintenance, Refresh, Revival and interior detailing can usually be completed at your home or workplace. Specialist services such as paint correction, ceramic coating, new-car protection, PPF, vinyl wrapping and de-chroming are completed in our controlled Eastbourne studio.
Which areas do you cover?
Our mobile service covers Eastbourne, Sovereign Harbour, Pevensey, Pevensey Bay, Westham, Hailsham, Polegate, Willingdon, Stone Cross, Seaford, Newhaven, Alfriston, East Dean, Jevington and nearby areas of East Sussex. Send us your postcode and chosen service and we will confirm availability and any applicable travel charge.
Do I need to provide water or electricity for a mobile detail?
Normally, no. Our mobile detailing van carries its own water and power. We simply need safe access to the vehicle, enough room to work around it and permission to use the location.
Can you detail my vehicle at my workplace or on the road?
Workplace detailing is available where the site owner permits it and there is a safe, legal working area. On-street work may be possible when parking is lawful and there is enough space to work without obstructing traffic or pedestrians. We will confirm suitability before accepting the appointment.
What happens if it rains on the day of my mobile detail?
Light rain does not always prevent mobile work, but heavy rain, strong winds, lightning or unsafe conditions may affect the finish or make the service impractical. If conditions are unsuitable, we will contact you and move the appointment to the next mutually convenient date at no additional charge.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. DrivenByDetail is insured for professional vehicle detailing and for the services we provide. We use careful working methods, professional equipment and products selected for the vehicle and surface being treated.
What vehicle services do you offer?
Our services include exterior and interior detailing, Maintenance Care Plans, deep-clean and Revival Details, paint enhancement and correction, ceramic coatings, new-car protection, PPF, vinyl wrapping, de-chroming, rear window tinting, headlight and taillight tint PPF, convertible-roof cleaning, engine-bay detailing, headlight restoration and specialist interior protection.
How do I know which detailing package my vehicle needs?
The correct service depends on the vehicle’s size, condition, previous protection and the result you want. A regularly maintained vehicle may only need maintenance, while moderate build-up may require a Refresh Detail and a neglected vehicle may need a Revival or full interior and exterior reset. Send photographs and a brief description and we will advise honestly.
How much does car detailing cost in Eastbourne?
Pricing depends on vehicle size, condition, the service selected and the time required. Maintenance services start from £65 for exterior care and £90 for interior and exterior maintenance. Specialist work such as paint correction, coatings, PPF and vinyl is individually quoted after assessing the vehicle and required coverage.
Why are some prices shown as “from”?
A well-maintained hatchback and a large SUV with heavy brake dust, pet hair or staining are very different jobs. “From” pricing provides a realistic starting point while allowing us to confirm an accurate price for the vehicle’s size and actual condition before the booking is secured.
What information do you need to provide a quotation?
Please send the vehicle make, model, registration, mileage, postcode and the service you are interested in. Clear photographs of the exterior, interior and any problem areas help us recommend the correct service and confirm an accurate price.
Do you take a deposit?
Unless your booking confirmation states otherwise, a 50% deposit secures the appointment and the remaining balance is due when the work is completed. Specially ordered PPF, vinyl, tint film or parts may also require advance payment before materials are ordered.
What payment methods do you accept?
Payment can be made through our booking system, including supported card payments, Apple Pay and Google Pay. We can also accept bank transfer or cash where agreed.
How far in advance should I book?
During the busier spring and summer months, lead times are commonly two to three weeks, although earlier appointments may be available. Paint correction, ceramic coating, PPF and new-car protection require longer studio slots, so please contact us early if you have a collection date, lease return, sale or event deadline.
Can I wait while my vehicle is being detailed?
We do not have a customer waiting area and most services take several hours or longer. Vehicles are normally dropped off and collected once complete. Local collection or return may sometimes be available by prior arrangement for studio bookings.
Paint Enhancement and Correction
What is paint correction?
Paint correction is a controlled machine-polishing process that refines the clear coat to reduce swirl marks, wash marring, light scratches, haze and oxidation. By improving the surface, it restores gloss, colour depth and sharper reflections that cannot be achieved through washing alone.
Can paint correction remove every scratch and swirl mark?
Most swirl marks and light wash defects can be significantly reduced, but complete removal depends on defect depth and available paint thickness. Deep scratches that catch a fingernail, stone chips and defects through the clear coat may only improve rather than disappear. We will always prioritise safe paint preservation over chasing an unsafe result.
Will machine polishing repair stone chips, dents or missing paint?
No. Machine polishing improves defects within the paint surface but cannot replace missing paint or repair dents, corrosion and lacquer failure. Those problems normally require a bodyshop, paintless dent repair or a separate touch-in process.
What is the difference between enhancement, single-stage and multi-stage correction?
An enhancement polish focuses primarily on gloss and clarity. A single-stage correction provides stronger reduction of light-to-moderate defects in one polishing stage. Multi-stage correction uses separate cutting and refining stages for heavier swirls, scratches, etching and paint that needs a higher level of restoration.
How long does paint correction take?
The time required depends on vehicle size, paint hardness, defect level and the chosen correction package. A light enhancement may take around a day, while more involved correction can require multiple days for preparation, polishing, inspection and protection.
Does a brand-new car need machine polishing?
Often, yes. New vehicles can arrive with transport contamination, adhesive residue, dealership wash marks or light marring from storage and preparation. A light refinement before coating ensures the finish looks its best and gives the protection a properly prepared surface to bond to.
Does paint correction include protection?
Every corrected vehicle should receive suitable protection because polishing leaves the paint clean and exposed. Available options range from shorter-term ceramic sealants to long-term professional ceramic coatings. The exact protection included or selected will be shown in your quotation.

Services, Pricing and Booking
What should I do before the appointment?
Please remove valuables, medication, documents and personal belongings, especially from footwells, seats, door pockets and the boot. Tell us about warning lights, loose trim, water leaks, electrical issues, previous bodywork, coatings, wraps or repaired and re-dyed interior surfaces before work begins.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Full cancellation terms, including statutory rights for eligible online and telephone bookings, are available in our Terms and Conditions.
What is the difference between a car wash, valet and professional detail?
A basic wash or valet focuses mainly on visible cleanliness. Professional detailing uses safer methods, specialist products and more time to clean, decontaminate, restore and protect individual surfaces. The aim is not only to make the vehicle look cleaner but also to preserve its condition and make future maintenance easier.
Who can join the Maintenance Care Plan?
The Maintenance Care Plan is available to approved existing customers whose vehicles have received qualifying detailing, paint correction, ceramic coating or PPF work and are in suitable condition for maintenance. New customers may need a Refresh or Revival Detail before joining.
How often should my vehicle be professionally maintained?
We offer four-, six- and eight-week maintenance schedules. Four-week visits provide the easiest year-round upkeep, six weeks offers a popular balance, and eight weeks suits lower-use vehicles that remain in good condition. The correct interval depends on mileage, storage, children, pets and how the vehicle is used.
What is included in Exterior Maintenance?
Exterior Maintenance includes wheels, tyres and arches, a safe pre-wash and contact wash, detailed exterior areas, door shuts, exterior glass, careful drying, tyre dressing and maintenance of existing exterior protection. It is intended for regularly maintained vehicles rather than heavily contaminated paintwork.
What is included in Full Maintenance?
Full Maintenance combines the complete exterior maintenance process with an interior vacuum, cleaning of the dashboard, console, steering wheel and other regularly used surfaces, interior glass and finishing touches. It maintains an already-detailed cabin but does not replace a deep interior clean where extraction, intensive stain treatment or major pet-hair removal is required.
How much does the Maintenance Care Plan cost?
Four-week Exterior Maintenance starts from £65 and Full Maintenance starts from £90. Prices increase according to vehicle size and whether the agreed interval is four, six or eight weeks. Your exact recurring price is confirmed before joining the plan.
Can you detail a heavily neglected vehicle?
Yes, but it may require a Revival or Complete Detail rather than routine maintenance. Heavy mud, sand, pet hair, mould, staining, biological contamination and strong odours require additional time and specialist processes. Send photographs before booking so we can assess the work safely and quote accurately.
What does an Interior Detail include?
Our Interior Detail includes thorough vacuuming, careful cleaning of carpets, mats, seats, plastics, trims, vents, the steering wheel, controls and interior glass. Steam, air agitation, enzyme treatment and extraction are used where suitable, with optional leather, fabric and carpet protection available.
Can you remove stains, pet hair and unpleasant odours?
Most staining, embedded dirt, pet hair and odours can be significantly improved, but complete removal cannot be guaranteed in every material. The result depends on how long the contamination has been present, whether it has penetrated foam or backing materials and whether the underlying source remains.
Do you offer ozone treatment for smoke or pet odours?
Yes. Ozone treatment is available as an optional upgrade for suitable vehicles affected by persistent smoke, pet or damp odours. It can significantly reduce odour-causing contamination, but the source must also be cleaned and repaired where necessary for the result to last.
Is it safe to clean repaired or re-dyed leather?
Previously repaired, painted or re-dyed leather can be difficult to identify and may have weaker adhesion than the original finish. Please disclose any known repair before work begins. We use dedicated products and careful methods, but an aged or poorly bonded previous repair can still lift, flake or transfer during otherwise safe cleaning.
Can you clean child seats?
Child seats are not normally removed, refitted or deep cleaned as part of a standard detail. Please remove them before the appointment if you want the seats and surrounding areas fully accessible. We can discuss suitable cleaning separately, but safety straps and manufacturer-controlled components require particular care. ( Child seats will be left laying down on the back seats for the owner to refit if removed to deep clean due to insurance and safety)
Do you prepare vehicles for sale or lease return?
Yes. Interior, exterior and Complete Details can improve presentation before a private sale, dealer appraisal or lease return. Detailing cannot repair dents, missing paint or serious damage, but it can remove contamination, improve cleanliness and help the vehicle present at its best.
Do you clean engine bays?
Yes. Our Engine Bay Detail is a cosmetic cleaning service designed to remove dirt, grease and grime while working carefully around sensitive components. It is not mechanical repair or fault diagnosis, and existing electrical problems or modifications must be disclosed before the service.
Do you clean and protect fabric convertible roofs?
Yes. Our Convertible Roof Deep Clean and Protect service removes ingrained traffic film, green staining and general grime using fabric-safe methods before applying water-repellent protection. It improves appearance and maintenance but cannot repair tears, failed stitching, shrinking fabric or leaking seals.
How long does convertible-roof protection last?
Typical protection can last approximately six to eighteen months, depending on storage, weather exposure and washing methods. A garaged vehicle maintained with gentle cleaning will normally retain protection longer than one kept outside and exposed to harsh products.
Services, Pricing and Booking
Yes. Our Headlight Restoration process removes oxidation through controlled sanding and machine polishing before applying protective coating. Most services take approximately one to two hours, although badly pitted or heavily oxidised lenses may require additional work.
Ceramic Coatings and New-Car Protection
What is a ceramic coating?
A ceramic coating is a professionally applied protective layer that bonds to properly prepared paintwork. It improves gloss, water repellency and resistance to UV exposure, road grime and environmental contamination while making routine washing and maintenance easier.
Is ceramic coating better than wax or sealant?
Wax and sealants provide useful short-term protection, but a professional ceramic coating offers stronger chemical resistance and significantly longer potential durability. The correct choice depends on your budget, ownership period and how the vehicle will be maintained.
Does ceramic coating make a car scratch-proof or stone-chip-proof?
No. Ceramic coatings can reduce light wash marring and make contamination easier to remove, but they do not prevent stone chips, dents or deeper scratches. Paint Protection Film is the better option where physical impact protection is the priority.
Which ceramic coating options do you offer?
We offer protection ranging from an entry-level one-year ceramic sealant through to Reign 10H seven-year and Dynasty 10H ten-year paint coatings. We will recommend the most suitable option based on the vehicle, ownership plans, usage and maintenance routine.
Does the seven- or ten-year coating duration apply to the glass and wheels?
No. The seven- or ten-year designation applies to the coating installed on the paintwork. Glass, wheels, leather and fabric are protected with products suited to those surfaces and have their own expected durability.
How long does protection last on the paint, glass, wheels and interior?
The selected paint coating may be rated for up to seven or ten years when correctly maintained. Exterior glass protection is typically around two to three years, wheel-face protection around two years, leather protection around two to three years and fabric protection approximately twelve to eighteen months. Actual performance depends on mileage, storage, abrasion, environmental exposure and aftercare.
What is included in the New Car Protection Package?
Our New Car Protection Package includes a full safe wash and decontamination, clay treatment where required, light machine refinement, panel preparation and the selected long-term coating. Paint, glass and wheel faces are protected with surface-appropriate products, with leather and fabric protection applied to applicable interior areas.
Which vehicles qualify for the New Car Protection Package?
The package is intended for brand-new vehicles or those with fewer than 1,000 miles. If the vehicle has covered more mileage or already developed heavier defects, we can still provide protection but may recommend a different preparation or correction package.
How should I care for a ceramic-coated vehicle?
Do not wash the vehicle during the initial curing period stated at handover, normally 14 days. After curing, use safe pre-washing, a pH-neutral shampoo without wax additives, clean wash equipment and careful drying. Avoid automatic car washes, harsh chemicals and roadside washes using reused brushes or cloths.
Are your ceramic coatings covered by a warranty?
Long-term coatings include the applicable manufacturer or installer warranty and aftercare information. Warranty performance depends on correct preparation, suitable washing, maintenance and compliance with the supplied conditions. A coating warranty is separate from your statutory rights.
Is a first maintenance detail included after ceramic coating?
Where stated in your package, the first professional maintenance detail and coating-performance inspection are complimentary. It must be requested at collection or within 30 days of application and will be arranged for the next mutually available date.
What is the difference between ceramic coating and PPF?
Ceramic coating provides chemical resistance, gloss, water repellency and easier maintenance. PPF creates a physical film barrier against stone chips, road debris and light scratches. Many customers combine PPF on high-impact areas with ceramic coating over the remaining paint and film for more complete protection.
PPF, De-Chroming, Vinyl and Tinting
What is the difference between ceramic coating and PPF?
Ceramic coating provides chemical resistance, gloss, water repellency and easier maintenance. PPF creates a physical film barrier against stone chips, road debris and light scratches. Many customers combine PPF on high-impact areas with ceramic coating over the remaining paint and film for more complete protection.
What is Paint Protection Film?
Paint Protection Film is a clear, self-healing film applied over painted surfaces to reduce damage from stone chips, road debris, light scratches and everyday wear. It is one of the strongest options for preserving original paint on new, prestige, performance and high-mileage vehicles.
Which PPF coverage options are available?
Coverage ranges from individual high-impact areas and front-end packages to extended front-end and full-vehicle protection. The correct option depends on how the vehicle is used, the areas most exposed to damage and your available budget.
Is PPF completely invisible and does it self-heal?
High-quality PPF is designed to be extremely discreet when installed correctly, although edges, joins or relief cuts may be visible on close inspection where vehicle shape requires them. Minor surface marks can self-heal with warmth, but deeper cuts, punctures and severe impacts can still damage the film.
Does a vehicle need polishing before PPF?
The paint is inspected and fully prepared before installation. New or well-maintained paint may only require light enhancement, while visible swirls or defects may justify correction because the film will preserve the condition underneath it.
What is vehicle de-chroming?
De-chroming uses premium automotive vinyl to cover chrome window trims, grille surrounds, badges and other suitable exterior pieces. It creates a darker OEM+ or black-pack appearance without permanently painting the original trim.
Is a vinyl de-chrome reversible?
Vinyl is designed to be removable, allowing the original trim to be retained underneath. Removal should be completed carefully and the condition of the original surface matters, particularly where trim has previously been painted, repaired or has begun to deteriorate.
Do you wrap individual vehicle trims and styling parts?
Yes. Suitable grilles, splitters, spoilers, mirror caps, badges, trim pieces and other exterior styling parts can be wrapped in premium automotive vinyl. Every part is assessed for shape, surface condition and whether the edges can be finished securely before we provide a quotation.
Do you offer window tinting?
Yes. Rear window tinting is available as an add-on alongside another detailing, correction, coating or PPF booking. It is completed by a trusted specialist using premium automotive film, with the shade and vehicle suitability confirmed before installation.
Can you tint and protect headlights or taillights?
Yes. Our Light Tint PPF service uses removable, self-healing film designed for lighting units. It can provide a subtle darker appearance while helping protect against UV exposure, light scratches and road debris. Available shades and suitability are confirmed for each vehicle, and the finished vehicle must remain compliant for road use.
Can detailing, ceramic coating, PPF and styling work be combined?
Yes. Combining services can reduce repeated preparation and allow the vehicle to be completed as one coordinated project. Common combinations include front-end PPF with ceramic coating, new-car protection with interior protection, or paint correction followed by de-chroming and long-term coating.

Dash Camera Installation in Eastbourne
Do you supply and fit dash cameras in Eastbourne?
Yes. DrivenByDetail supplies and professionally installs selected 70mai and Thinkware dash cameras in Eastbourne and surrounding East Sussex. We offer front-only and front-and-rear systems, with mobile or studio fitting subject to safe access, vehicle compatibility and enough room to work.
How much does dash cam installation cost in Eastbourne?
Complete supply-and-install packages currently start at £219 for a 70mai M310 2K front camera, £479 for a 70mai M800 4K front-and-rear system and £599 for a Thinkware U3000 front camera. The Thinkware U3000 front-and-rear package is £749. Larger vehicles, unusual trim, difficult fuse-box access or additional wiring may require a supplement, which will be confirmed before booking.
Which dash camera packages do you offer?
The 70mai M310 is the cost-effective front-only option. The 70mai M800 provides 4K front and 1080p rear recording with built-in storage and app control. The Thinkware U3000 is the premium option, offering 4K front recording, optional 2K rear recording, GPS, Wi-Fi and advanced parking-surveillance features. We will confirm the correct model and accessories for your vehicle before ordering.
Can you install a front-and-rear dash camera?
Yes. We install front-and-rear systems such as the 70mai M800 and Thinkware U3000. The rear camera cable is routed discreetly through the vehicle wherever the trim design and safe access allow.
What is included in your dash-camera installation service?
The agreed installation can include compatibility checks, safe camera positioning, discreet cable routing, a compatible hardwire kit, rear-camera installation, app pairing, basic settings, GPS or parking-mode setup where supported, recording tests and a customer handover. The exact inclusions are shown in your quotation.
Do you hardwire dash cameras for parking mode?
Yes, where the selected camera and vehicle support it. A suitable hardwire kit normally uses constant power, ignition/ACC and earth so the camera can switch between driving and parking modes. Low-voltage protection may reduce the risk of battery discharge, but parking-mode recording time depends on the battery, vehicle electronics, settings and how often the vehicle is driven.
Does hardwiring a dash camera drain the battery?
The correct hardwire kit should include a low-voltage cut-off or other battery-protection feature where supported. However, no dash-camera installation can guarantee that a vehicle battery will remain charged during extended parking. Battery age, condition, temperature, vehicle energy-management systems and the selected parking mode all affect performance.
Do you offer 4G dash camera installation?
Some compatible dash-camera systems support 4G remote monitoring, alerts, location features or live viewing. 4G requires the correct camera, compatible 4G hardware, mobile coverage and any required SIM, data plan or subscription. These services are normally the customer’s responsibility unless specifically included in the quotation.
Can you fit a dash camera to a van, hybrid or electric vehicle?
In many cases, yes. We can assess cars, vans and light commercial vehicles, including hybrid and electric vehicles. The installation must use a suitable low-voltage circuit and avoid high-voltage components, airbags and other vehicle safety systems. Rear-camera cable length, bulkheads and trim design may affect the final price.
specifically included in the quotation.
Can you install a dash camera that I have already bought?
Possibly. Send us the camera model, vehicle make and model, registration and the hardwire kit or power adaptor you have. We will check compatibility before booking. Customer-supplied equipment remains covered by its own manufacturer warranty, while our responsibility is limited to the installation workmanship agreed with you.
Can you hide the dash-camera wiring?
Yes. We route cables behind trim wherever practical, keeping the dashboard and 12V socket clear. The finished result depends on the vehicle, airbags, trim construction, fuse-box location and rear-camera route. We will not knowingly route wiring through or interfere with a vehicle’s safety systems.
How long does a dash cam installation take?
Front-only installations commonly take around one to two hours. Front-and-rear systems usually take around two to three hours, depending on the vehicle and cable route. We will give you a realistic time estimate when confirming your booking.
Do I need a memory card for my dash camera?
The 70mai M310 requires a suitable MicroSD card, which can be supplied with the complete package. The M800 uses built-in eMMC storage. The Thinkware U3000 package includes a 64GB card. We will confirm the storage supplied with your chosen system before booking.
Can you set up the dash-camera app for me?
Yes. Where the camera supports an app, we can pair it with your phone, check the connection and explain how to view and download recordings. Please have your phone available with the relevant app installed or ready to download.
Can a dash camera guarantee that every incident or number plate is recorded?
No. A dash camera is an evidence aid, not a guarantee of security or successful recording. Speed, distance, lighting, glare, weather, dirty glass, camera position, storage, battery condition, network coverage and the direction of an incident can all affect the footage.
Are dash cameras legal to use in the UK?
Dash cameras are generally permitted when fitted safely and used responsibly. The camera must not unnecessarily obstruct the driver’s view, and the vehicle owner remains responsible for the lawful use, storage and sharing of recordings, including audio and privacy requirements. Business and fleet users may have additional data-protection responsibilities.
Are dash-camera installations covered by a warranty?
The camera and accessories are covered by the relevant manufacturer’s warranty, subject to that manufacturer’s terms. Installation workmanship is covered under DrivenByDetail’s booking terms. We may need to inspect the installation before deciding whether an issue relates to the fitting or the equipment itself.
Do I need to pay a deposit for a dash-camera installation?
Yes. Unless your quotation states otherwise, a 50% deposit secures the appointment and the remaining balance is due when the installation is complete. Special-order cameras or accessories may require payment before they are ordered.
Where can I have a dash camera fitted?
We can often fit suitable systems at your home or workplace where there is safe, legal access and enough room to work. Studio appointments are available where the vehicle or installation requires a more controlled environment. Contact us with your postcode and vehicle details so we can confirm suitability.
Still Unsure Which Service You Need?
Send us your vehicle make, model, registration, mileage, postcode and a few clear photographs. If you are interested in a dash camera, include the package you are considering and whether you require front-only, front-and-rear or parking-mode recording. We will recommend the most suitable service, confirm the price and offer the next available appointment.
